TARE “T” DAVIS
For North Carolina Senate
District 2

Representing Carteret, Chowan, Halifax, Hyde, Martin, Pamlico, Warren, and Washington Counties

Born and raised in Halifax County, North Carolina, Tare “T” Davis is the son of working class parents who instilled in him and his four siblings a strong work ethic and the importance of integrity.

T has committed his life to public service. He joined the Army National Guard at the age of 17 before graduating from Weldon High School and served for 12 years, reaching the rank of sergeant.

From an early age, T knew he wanted to be a State Trooper, and he was determined to pursue his passion. In January 2000, he got his chance to join the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. Later this year, he will retire with 28 years in law enforcement.

His decades-long career has included work as a campus policer in Jamestown and as a narcotics officer with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Additionally, he served as a fitness instructor for the Highway Patrol and for Halifax Community College’s Basic Law Enforcement Training program. Because of his educational background and time in law enforcement, Tare received the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission/Advance Law Enforcement Certificate.

T has an Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix, Bachelor of Science degree in International and Comparative Criminal Justice from Kaplan University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Organization from North Carolina Wesleyan University.

He has been a Warren County commissioner since 2014 and was chairman of the board for four years. He routinely holds Town Hall meetings in his district to give a voice to his constituents about their concerns.

In 2021, Tare was elected Second Vice President of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners. This summer, he will be sworn in as president of the state association.

T has been a small business owner, is a Prince Hall Mason, is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and will be honored in June during Black Business Ink’s Power 100 Awards Ceremony as one of the most influential African-American leaders in the state.

Tare “T” Davis and his wife, Monica — a middle school mathematics teacher — live in Warren County, NC, and have four children: Tiare, Tare, Jr., Mayah, and Meagan. They are members of Roanoke Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Garysburg, NC. T is also a life member of his home church, the Evangelistic Church of Deliverance in Weldon, NC.
